This 2 days cycle tour allows you to cycle around the phnom penh and gain a great insight into the vast landscape , plus an introduction to promote transport for health.
Cycling to Siem Reap is a great way to get off the beaten track and down the small paths away from the tourist routes
Day 1: Angkor Wat And Grand Circuit (Cycle 20 Km)
Cycle to the incredible temples of Angkor (approx. 17km) where we will discover the majestic Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Takeo, Banteay Kdei and Ta Prohm.
Day 2: Bantey Srei – Bantey Samre (Cycle 80 Km)
Leave early morning to visit Angkor Wat main temple. Then cycle 40km to the ruins of Banteay Srei, finishing the day with a spectacular sunset at the hilltop temple of Phnom Bakheng.
Day 3: Rolous Group and Floating Village (Cycle 52 Km)
Cycle out of town to the Rolous temple group. Along the way visit Prasat Bakong, Prasat Preah Ko and Lo lei. After leaving Rolous Group, cycle to the Arran Rangsey Pagoda to rest before continuing to the main road to the floating villages. Late in the afternoon cycle back to Siem Reap.
Sometimes when I think about the trip it is nerve-wracking, but I’m also so excited and curious all at once. I want to see Cambodia and how the people live and see what I can do to help, but I am scared about the physical side of the trip. I am interested to see how ActionAid is working with communities and how my fundraising money will make a difference to the Cambodian people.
I have been going to the gym and my personal trainer regularly. However I love food, so I am still a bit overweight. But my goal is to get fit for the cycle challenge so it keeps me going!
It is also a challenge for me as I am not a professional cyclist in fact I haven’t been on a bike in years. The training is helping me get my confidence back and feeling comfortable riding again. There have been ups and downs in getting ready for the trip but I want to give it my best. I have 5 more months before I get on the plane so plenty of time for more training and fundraising.
