MARKET UPDATE
The Cambodian construction industry is forecast to grow by 9.5% (in real terms) in 2010, pushing the nominal industry value to KHR2.59trn (US$640mn).
Over the medium term, the country’s construction sector is expected to continue to see robust growth due to the bullish economic outlook for the country, the renewed interest in investing in Cambodia’s infrastructure sector and growing urbanisation level Beyond 2011, the prospects for the Cambodian construction sector are bright. STRONG ECONOMIC REBOUND IN 2011
Cambodia has been growing at a rapid pace and over the past few years and reached 12% in 2007. The nation’s GDP averaged 11% from 2004-7 lead by foreign investments and increasing local consumption. In spite of the slowing global economy, Cambodia’s growth registered 7.5% in 2008*.
The economic growth is projected to register positive growth in 2009-2010 and will reach 7% in 2011.
